Color of Okeetee

Passport Jun 21, 2003 07:24 AM

I have a yearling pair of Okeetee that I bought from a reputable breeder. They are quite large already at only 11 months. My question is about when the saddles really begin to turn red. The background color on them seems quite tan/light brown and the saddles are more orange than red. I see that there has already been quite a change in color since they hatched according to the pics posted here of new hatchlings. Does this color changing continue until maturity? I do see a hint of red in just a few scales only on the very top of the snakes. Just curious. I really like the brightly colored specimens pictured here.

Mine was actually more red when she was 5 - 6 months. This is her at 12 months (now). She has stopped changing color in her saddles. Her background is now turning more red with the week.

Very pretty snake...Do you perchance have a pic of a Hypo Oketee? Thanks

This is a pic from Marc and Ronda's site. This snake is even more amazing in person!

I have a pair of yearlings coming up but I just don't have the talent that Ronda does for photograghy.

Thats what I was talking about, even in this thread all of these Oketee's vary quite a bit in redness and border thickness. I know a bit about Corns but not nearly an expert but things like this confuse it even more for me..lol

Here he was April '02
