Max,
Waxworms are like candy for leopard geckos. I feed my girls/guys (breeding or not), one or two once/twice per week.
I learned the hard way that once they taste waxies, not only are they getting too much fat if fed alot, but they may turn up their noses at more nutritious food items.

I have one little guy (Tawney-5 yrs.old) who, I swear, recognizes the little white tub, and becomes VERY excited as I walk across the herp room with it. The cricket routine is not greeted with nearly as much enthusiasme! (lol) The up-side to waxies in my opinion is that if liquid meds are needed, I inject them into waxies, and they are devoured immediately. With wax worms, it doesn't matter if they are moving or not with my leos! I have also injected liquid calcium into them for laying females.

Just my experience. . .
regards,
althea

I'm sorry, Matt. It's late and my brain wasn't working--no disrespect intended by the misnomer.

LOL that sounds like my Dwarf Hamster when I pull out the mealworm box!!! She goes NUTS over those things! You would not believe!!! She's in the same general area as the reptiles & mealies, so everytime she sees me pull out the box of mealies - doesn't even see THEM, just the box! She goes nuts! Climbs up the side of her cage & starts gnawing at the wires if I take too long to give her one.. When I finally do, she grabs hold of the mealies and totally forgets to hold on to the cage, too.. and WHOMPs onto the floor of her cage.. It's hilarious...

And, yeah, leopard geckos are kinda like that about waxworms & pinkies!!!
