Finally!! Pictures of Loiosh and Rocza

LizardMom Jul 12, 2004 01:13 AM

Finally got around to getting some 'glamour shots' of my reds. The first shot is Loiosh. He's about 24 inches long (that figure subject to change almost daily!)

She's the same age, but considerably smaller (About 14-15 inches at present). She's a discriminating lady about eating. She hates mice. She'll grab and shake them, but then she spits them out and licks her lips. I'm beginning to think she either doesn't like the taste, or she doesn't like the fur. I refuse to try to shave mice!

Nice pictures. Try changing them up on the mice. If you are giving f/t, try feeding live. Or give an appropriate size rat.

I've tried everything with Rocza. When she was younger, I even made pinkie/cricket canapes to get her to eat a few. But once she tastes the mice, it's all over. She just doesn't seem to like them. For awhile there I was thinking she did not like the fur in her mouth. She would grab it, then spit it out and lick her mouth as if to try to get rid of the taste. I feed live or fresh killed; doesn't matter to Loiosh, but Rocza just won't eat them. She'll chase and kill a mouse, but then she just drops it and goes looking for crickets. Really weird. Maybe I'll get some frozen ones and try cutting them up; thanks for the suggestion.

I know it sounds grouse, but some of us used to cut up full grown mice to feed to our spoiled monitors...frozen thawed of course.

No more gross than squashing crickets and rubbing the resultant mess all over a pinkie, and I've done that. lol The things we do for our 'children!'
