Panther Buying question.

Screameleons Jul 12, 2004 12:57 PM

Dear members,

I have a few questions for those that are planning on buying a panther chameleon, or have purchased one in the past.

Was the risk of the panther dying a consideration? I know some people are hesitant because $200-$300 is lot to lose if the animal dies.

i am right now in the process of choosing a 350-500 dollar panther to buy and yes, the cham dying is a big worrying factor. the investment is very big considering that many of us enthusiasts are not professional breeders and are doing this as a hobby. but then again, if i was too worried about it, i wouldnt be in the market would i?

For me, yes it was a huge consideration, but i knew in the long run it was worth it. I did research and knew i was ready. But I just lost mine and now i know i will have to spend a lot of money again, it is worth it but spending up to $300 on another is making me have second thoughts, it is worth it, but i just have a hard time spening that much money on a lizard, and knowing there is a chance it could freakishly die. I mean i could get an awesome dog that would live 5 times as long! lol I just think charging that much is sorta ridiculous.

Buying something living and having it sent through the mail always makes me weary. After losing a $500 panther and more than that in vet bills, it makes me really rethink getting another one at this point in my life.

To me spending the money is a risk i have to know that where im gettin the chams from is a good place if i trust the place im comfortable buying from them.

Side note im glad that prices are somwhat high. It saddens me the way Veilds are treated due to there "cheap" price tag. A high price will insure people to take care of there animals.
