How many here feed their Burms in separate containers rather than cages?
I know with the feeding response mine have, I kinda throw the prey ( f/t ) in the cage and run!
I do have one snake that is even worse than the Burms.
I bought a Brazilion Rainbow Boa a year ago.A sweet animal...till feeding time.
She's about 3ft, and like lightening in the presence of food.
Here's this skinny bitty snake, whacking rats, and jumbo breeder mice, harder than my Burms!
My other snakes while good eaters have a laidback feeding response, so I dont bother moving them around. My BRB has a gleam in her eye when she eats. Like the devil himself.
And my Burms...well...again, throw the food in and run!
No way in hell I'll move them to another container!
Anybody else?
I gotta get some pics up here. This is the best forum by far!
Much better than that F...umm...F...well you know which one.

My burms I feed in the enclosure. Even though I had reservations at first, I dont want to do it any other way now.
I will usually hand feed my two big adult females. I generally hold the rabbit by the hind legs and dangle it in front of them until they hit it and start that process. This can get a little hairy when you dont get the rabbit warm enough, and they hone in on you. But it makes for an exciting few minutes.
I did feed a 9 foot burm out of the cage, and I promise you that was one of the scariest things I ever did in my life. I had to pull him out of his enclosure, with him smelling the rats, and he had his mout open and it was not fun.
As for a feeding lump, I dont have a pic yet, but my 5 ft, 3 lb retic, just ate a 2-3 lb rabbit. So just imagine that one. Hopefully Ill have a pic later on.

Cool, I would have gotten a bigger rooster, but I did not want ot push my luck. I will probably get something a good size this saturday and feed it. The snake is around 10-15lbs. how big of a prey item do you think will be the biggest i could I feed it? I am not worried at all about it getting obese right now cause after it took a dump it looked skinny agian. Oh my gosh can it take a dump. It beat my dogs at that game. i bet it lost a pound or 2.

Hey burmaboy, I haven't forgotten about sending you pics, I just moved and everything was on hold.
I feed out of the cage! Why? I don't like the look of newspaper so I use shredded bedding. I know when I'm eatin a chicken leg I would want to eat chips of wood just because it happened to be on the chicken and I don't figure the snake does either. I've started using a kiddie pool just outside of the enclosure. When done, I coax him back in the cage, almost no lifting to stres him. Red, your right! It can get hairy but it is exciting. It's a challenge. Plus, when trying to switch to a new animal (rabbits) it's easier to get a position on the snakes mouth to insert the head of the next meal before the tail of the first shoots down the hole. But the rush, whew!
