I just received an old bullsnake as an adoption from a college graduate that had to give up his snake. I hear this snake has a history in that it beloged to the old herp professor at the university I attend and was given to a student when the professor retired. The student had it for at least 5 years and then gave it to another student whom had it for about 3 years. I'm the 4th owner of this snake. It is guessed to be about 20 years old though the exact age is unknown. It is beautiful with plenty of orange. It is a pretty passive snake and has yet to strike at me. He is being housed in a 10 gallon aquarium on shredded paper substrate and a shoebox to hide in and a jar for a water bowl. He has a heat rock in there which I will not use. He never uses it anyway from what I hear.
I have some experience with Colubrids. I've never worked with Pituophis, but this guy seems like a good one to start with. If I knew how to probe the bull I would. It'd be interesting to see if it is still a breeder.
