UPDATE - my hatchlings from June 18th....

111mom Jul 12, 2004 06:09 PM

Just wanted to post an update about our babies. We wound up with 8 out of the 11 eggs hatching out. All 8 are eating tiny crickets and tiny meal worms. A few of them seem to be thinner than the others but they are all eating. They are soooooo cute when they sleep at night. We will often find them stacked on top of each other layered like a set of stairs going up their branch. I have pictures but I need to figure out how to post. Question...they hatched June 17-20th, how old do they need to be before I can let them go to new homes? We live in Arkansas if anyone's interested!!!

It sounds like they are off to a great start. Congrats!

I don't like to let my babies go until they are 3-6 months old just because I feel that it takes some pretty intensive care until then. I also don't feel that the youngsters are well established until then. I have had thin ones just up and die for not reason other than lack of growth well into the 2nd month. If you know someone who is interested and has reptile experience that is a different story and I would then consider letting them go at 2 months.

So, you are from Arkansas! I had 2 MHDs that were from Little Rock! The family that had them were more interested in desert species and gave them to me to add to my breeders.
