V. Olivaceous Question

diegos_den Jul 12, 2004 08:09 PM

Does anyone know the names of the fruits Gray's Monitors eat in nature? I've been looking all over the net but all I've gotten is "it eats fruit" over and over again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jacob

You could go to a decent library and have them get, on interlibrary loan, the following book: Walter Auffenberg (1988) Gray's Monitor Lizard. University Presses of Florida. The topics of diet and foraging are covered in about 100 pp. of text, and all of the fruits that V. olivaceus eat are discussed in some detail.

You can also check out Daniel Bennett's website for information on his current research on the ecology of butaans.
