Is it necessary to have a moist and dry hide?

axawl Jul 12, 2004 09:42 PM

I now know I need a humid hide...but do I need both a humid and a dry? Also, should the humid hide be on the warmer side or cooler side of the tank?

Thanks,
Brad

i would think so. more then one hide means less stress, the humid hide should be on warmer side to help evaporation. So i would have both hides, my opinion tho.

Mind you my geckos end up making their own dry hides by wedging themselves in corners. Cuz here i buy this $6 fake cage and they never use it... ungrateful buggers :D

In other words orientate your cage furniture so that they can make natural hides themselves

of course it is best to have both. ideal situations are not needed though. Not that i'm reccomending this but considering the fact that probaby half of leopard gecko owners out there have only a dry hide spot, and they not only live but thrive. All ways of doing things are different, most ways work, do whatever is easiest and most practical for you...chances are, it will work just fine. People seem to over complicate things and insinst that their oppinions are facts when thay are nothing more that their prefrences.
