I think she has it.... Respiratory disease

Dora, my newly baby purchased Ball has been bubbling and mucous is coming off her mouth, she is also keeping her head raised for easier breathing. I am going to take her to the vet tomorrow, but I dont know what to expect, as far as pthe treatment goes and the cost of the special treatment. I guess in this case you really get what you paid for huh, I paid $20.00 Dollars for her at this market (Traders village in Dallas) and I think that all of their Pythons are infected tha's why they are selling them sooo cheap. anyways I hope to save Dora

Any feedback GREATLY appreciated
Thanks

One of the best things to do is keep her warm. Try to keep her temps at the high end (constantly 88-90F) until symptoms dissapear. I'm sure your vet will tell you all this, and start her on antibiotics. Make sure she stays well hydrated also, cuz antibiotics can dehydrate small snakes very quickly.

Good luck

Well, that sucks that s/he's sick. I know what you mean about getting what you paid for. I took a "rescue" for free. I've been to the vet twice now for eye ulcers and a RI. But we love 'em don't we....

Tmomrrow morning I'll stop by the vet and hopefully I will get the treatment started, Im just a little concerned about the cost of the treatment. As far as keeping her warm and Hydrated, I m doing my best. I was thinking about letting her soak in warm water for a little while, is this any good or will it just agravate the situation?

Thank you guys!!

Soaking wont hurt, but just making sure the humidity is around 60-70% without being wet will help its repiratory system. Remember that warm water to us is pretty hot for a reptile. Also, make sure it has clean fresh water available at all times, and the less you handle it the less stress it will have and the quicker it will heal.

Good luck
