injuries... what should i do

cowpers Jul 12, 2004 11:16 PM

hi... i guess there was a skirmish last night in my crested tank and one of my cresteds ended up with a scratch on its head that i assume will heal... the problem though is that there seems to be damage to its tail too... the last couple centimeters of its tail look really dry and almost like it is dead... what should i do? should i just make it drop the tail or should i leave it? i isolated the injured crested and it seems no worse for the wear... mostly i just don't want whatever is wrong with the tail to spread... thanks a lot in advance for the help... also... if anyone has an answer to my "is there such a thing as calcium saturation" question that would be appreciated too.. thanks again-paul

One I bought from Petco because of a unusual coloration had a tail exactly as you describe with the dead appearing tail on the end .(dry lifeless looking)

I was particuarly concerned because the closest info I could find was about iguanas and getting dry gangreen .

My local vet gave me a darned if I know reply.

Anthony suggested I simply play it out and see what happens .Nearly a month later the tail looks no worse and he has some use of it .He eats well ,is growing rapidly and is one of my most alert Geckos.

That being the case Ild suggest you let nature handle this one if you can.
