How much CGD should a baby be eating?

mikeandmegan Jun 21, 2003 10:15 AM

hi, i just got my first crested yesterday, and was wondering how much of the CGD she should be eating. she had 2 small crix at the store and 2 more at my house, but i would much rather get her onto the CGD and eliminate the need for insects. after getting her home, and letting her settle in i mixed up some of the CGD and dabbed her nose with it. she will lick that, and lick some of it off my finger, but she doesnt go for the CGD on her own. i left if overnight, and found no marks from eating it this morning. on the superfoods forum, ive seen allen tell people that its very rich and they dont need to eat much of it, but exactly how much woudl a baby eat? i dont have a scale, but she is a little more than an inch, tip to vent and probably 1-2 weeks old. here is a picture of her

p.s. i know that its impossible to tell if she is a she, but my girlfriend wants a female, so thats what im calling her

A baby that size would consume an amount smaller than a pea. If it is accepting it from your finger, keep offering it that way. It's stomach should look slighlty full. It won't help your effort to still offer crix. Uless the gecko is not eating anything at all, there is no need to offer any crix. If you must, just offer 1-2 times per week.
good luck

thanks, both of you
i just need a little clarification, do you mean pea-sized in terms of the dry powder or mixed CGD? i would have to assume mixed, because her belly looks full after having only licked my finger for a bit (and she is pooping, so i guess that means shes got a decent amount of food in her)...but you can never be too careful with something you love
