welcome to the kingsnake boa forum. I can't really tell, the picture is too blurry but it doesn't look like a hypo hogg. Looks like a normal hog island. Hypo hogs are crosses between 2 different kinds of snakes. They are croses between a hypo boa, which is just a genetic mutation of either a columbian boa or a nicaragun boa, and a hogg island boa which is a small insular species of boa. Many claim that hogg islands are naturally occurring hypos but this is just speculation . i would really love to see your hogg island though please post more pictures when you take some and hope to see you back real soon

hey , thanx for the warm welcome blazeboas, im glad to know that there are SOME nice people in here , unlike in the photo gallery , where some very un- nice things have been said towards comments ive posted. As to what u said about the hypo hogg island boa , i think ive been mislead in my thoughts about it. I thought that a hypomelanistic hogg island boa was a hogg island boa that had a very small amount of melanin on it. I didnt know that it meant that it was a hogg island boa that was inbred with one of the mainland species. My animal is a pure bred hogg, so i dont think its been crossed with any mainland animals. Since this is the case , what would u beem my hogg as? i didnt think it would be called a " normal " hogg island boa, because most of the hoggs ive seen have had a whole lot more melanin on them then mine has. forgive me if im asking alot of questions , but u seem to know what your talking about , and this is sorta confuzing to me
thanks again for welcoming me into the forums
sincerely,
John

( another picture is attached below , it is of the same quality as the one before this , sorry for the extreme blurriness , im in the process of getting a new digital camera)

Well first and formost i would call a hogg island with little to no black a smoker, but not a hypo! the reason for this being once again the cross issue.I kinda figured that was what you ment, but someone may have misunderstood your meaning and it would've opened a big ole can of worms.when the term hypo is used in todays boa"world" the first thing that comes to mind is the mutation and the second is ussually $$$.I would simply call your hogg a smoker. Im sorry if you took my previouse post the wrong way. It wasnt meant as a flame or to be derogitory in any way. Now if you ever figure out how to work the focus in your camera we'll all be able to see this smoker for our selves lol.
I personally really wanna see them! i had some real stunning hoggs a few years back That if the had 6 black specks between them it was alot!!! Every day im kicking my self in the A$$ for ever haveing parted with them. Personally im alway looking for animals of that quality. Im really looking foward to seeing yours

Hi, Hog Island Boa's, are a (Natural Hypo)This is a Known Fact. But if you have Pure Hog's Island's, you dont label them as Hypo's,Because the Breed is a Known Naturaly occuring Hypo.A Hypo/Hog Island is a MixBreed, of a Central American or Colombian Hypo (BCI)and a Hog Island Boa.
Have A Good One ! !

Your hogg is definitely a smokin' hogg. Mine also don't have much melanin and I love it! Granted a hogg with lots of speckling, for those hoggs that are ale natural, are also beautiful.

Would love to see clearer pics. I love hoggs!

Hugs!

hey guys , thanx for all of the responses that all of you guys have given to me , ive gotten a whole lot of misconceptions cleared up concerning the term that should be deemed to my hogg. And with my digital camera , its a piece of crap , i just dont have the cash to get another one , i do have a friend coming over next week , who has an awesome camera , so i will make sure to take some pictures of my hogg , and the other animals i have,
She truly is stunning in real life , and im so lucky to have her.
I had another question to ask of u guys , what do u think would be the weight of a breeding size hogg female should be? I am thinking about breeding her when she gets of size
THanks,
John
