It was a pretty one though. The ones I had been seeing this area were alot darker than this guy.

That is a great snake. Id like to find one sometime too, but I hear they arent seen very often on the road.
How warm was it? Im worried about the heat right now, I havent been seeing much activity on the roads lately.
June gloom is definately over here in Southern CA. The temps are up 10-15 degrees from last week. As far as seeing speckleds here in OC, i'd say I saw one about 50% of the time, maybe two out of three nights. They're one of the most common snakes in most canyons in socal. They're pretty variable too. Most of the ones I saw in this area were darker, but there are some real pretty ones up there, no doubt.

Yeah I heard you have to field in the canyons, particularly in rocky ones, as they dont frequent the roads.
