Eggs supposed to be sticky?

aquakej Jul 13, 2004 09:35 AM

One of my females laid some eggs at the very bottom of her wet box, and they are stuck to the plastic. Is this normal? I don't remember any eggs sticking before, but they have never been laid directly on the box before. They appear to be fertile...they are leathery, but perhaps not as firm as usual? Maybe they were just laid.
Does anyone have experience with this? I just put the whole wet box into the incubator.
Thanks,
~Katie

Leo eggs are not usually sticky at all. The only thing I could see happening is other fluids (relating the egg-laying), dried and stuck the eggs to the bottom of the container. I guess if that's the case, and they appear fertile, put the whole container in the incubator. I would NOT try to remove the egg from the container. Add some vermiculite or perlite to the container and keep it moist. You should be able to cut the top off the hide (unless it is store bought) so you can keep an eye on it. Use normal incubation methods, other than not moving the eggs.

Yeah, when they're first coming out of the female's body, I'd imagine they're sticky. And it's actually pretty common for the eggs to be found stuck to something. Just put the whole hide into the incubator, unless you can cut a wide circle around the eggs, leaving them attached to the hide - without causing any serious vibrations...
