Asking for some updates from ANYONE who is working on ALBINO CLOWNS!

So many awesome morphs, but yet no albino clowns..

I always ask about this about every 6-7 months, so I have to ask again.

Anyone out there in BP land have a shot at hatching an albino clown this season?

I really love the clown BP's, I don't think they get enough attention. I think there is a lot of work to still be done with them.

I dream about albino clowns for some reason. Let me see how I am at guessing what it may take to get them.

Albino male X Clown female =

All normal looking babies? All 100% HET for albino? All 100% HET for clown?

Would you then breed the double HET babies to each other? What you would get? This is were I am lost.

Don't know but would expect someone would be working on this combo by now. For some reason these things are often kept secret (anyone could think of the idea of making this cross - don't see how a breeder advertising that they are working on it would increase competition).

If clown and albino weren’t alleles (different mutations of the same gene - and I think it's very likely they are not) then albino X clown would produce normal looking double hets. If the genes weren’t linked by being on the same chromosome then breeding the double hets together would produce eggs each with a 1:16 chance of being an albino clown. If they do just happen to be on the same chromosome it would be much more difficult to combine them than 1:16 but how much more difficult would depend on how close the two mutations where together.
