Need Help With Sick Horned Lizard

reddevil Jul 13, 2004 12:56 PM

I've had him for about 2 months now, and he has been doing great throughout that time. Yesterday I went to give him some ants, and I noticed he wasn't moving. I picked him up and he still didn't move very much. He moved his hands for a few seconds and then stopped. The only movement I have seen from him was when he slid aroun against the floor, and then stopped when he hit the side of the cage. I haven't even seen him open his eyes since. I know he isn't dead yet because when I pick him up he will move around a little.

I don't know what I should do to help him, or if it is even possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

He's starting to walk around a little, but looks very weak. He's pretty much sliding, and then he will suddenly fall down into the sand and his back legs will stretch out. One time his left leg even bent back under his body. He still isn't eating either.

Are you giving him any water? If so, how? What are the tank conditions. Temp, size, type of light, etc...???

He's in a 3 foot long cage. Temperature is about 90 on the warm side and in the low 80's on the cooler side. He has a low water dish (so he won't have to climb to get water), and I mist him daily. Don't know what kind of light it is being used. I thought he might have just been dehydrated, so I tried to soak him in water for a little while. Didn't help any.

Also, I had to move him to a smaller cage this morning (10 gallon) because the ants that where in there where all over him. So I placed him in the new cage with 3 ants incase he decided to eat.

Please I/M me. My screen name for AIM is RedDevii3, and MSN is RedDevil@linkinpark.com

He is really not looking very good, and I'm afraid he may be dead by tomorrow.
