Hy to all!

How many of you keep those amazing skinks?
Is it difficult to get breeding?

Cheers

Leonardo and Rafael. They make great pets! I adore them!
But they are both males, so no babies!

...did you breed them?

Flavia Guimaraes Jul 18, 2004 11:44 PM

Yes, they are very friendly and when they stop trying to bite you they really mean it! Not like iguanas that even when they are tame they can change their minds and try to bite you. MTSs are the sweetest reptiles on earth. The only problem i have with mine is that sometimes they sleep for a few days in a row.So they are not alawys "available" to be handled or to keep me company.

My MTS both are males so i cant even cage them together!

So far in my experience,,the males get along much better together then females.I have 5 males all roaming togehter, one female,MaryAnn ,has her own enclosure, and Ginger(Mean as hell) free roams with the males. So far(knock on wood)all is fine.
I do have enclosures for all if need be and a full room of plants, trees and climbing things for fast escape.

I think you are lucky indeed because i read that males MTS become very territorial and attack each other.I never caged my 2 males together but i can see they cannot tolerate each other.Even when they are free roaming the house i have to keep an eye on them to prevent them from fighting!

Hi I'm new to the list, but I just had to answer this post. They are truely wonderful skinks,,I have 7 that all free roam their own room.I don't have a digital camera and I'm not very puter friendly anyways,,so I can't post a pic of their room. I've had luck with 2 new babies over the past few yrs.I've seen one pair mating,,,they get really rough,,they've had 5 babies together, but I only have two of them.
The gestation of PTS's hasn't really been documented, but mine have taken about 8mos till birth.Mom and Dad did protect her until I took her out of their cage(kept caged when I saw she was gravid)at the age of 6mos.
Their names are Gilligan,Skipper,MaryAnn,Professor,Ginger,Minnow,Mr Howell.I lost Lovie to a love bite from mating by Skipper.
