Swollen Jaw?

Melisondra Jul 13, 2004 01:44 PM

When I was feeding my guys earlier I noticed my male (veiled) had some small swellings on the back bottom of his jaw, around his throat. It looks like the area his glands(?) would be at. Cant remember the name.. wow some science major I am...
Both are barely visible from looking at him and are same size.
I massaged both sides and he didnt seem upset about it like they hurt. Of course he was eating from his cup at that time so im not sure a freight train would have bothered him.
I have been feeding him and my girl heavily for the past couple weeks, could it be that he's just finally putting weight back on (was kinda skinny for awhile) or could he have an infection or something that I might need to have a vet check out? Ill try to get a picture tonight after work.
Hes in a 175 reptarium with 2 basking lights and a uvb strip light. Eats crickets and silks like a pig every day or other day. Misted once a day and has a dripper running but not sure how often he drinks from it. Thanks!

Erin

Im not sure anyhting bit him as its on both sides and the roughly the same sizes. I feed him Medium-large size crickets, and I have been feeding him silk worms a bit lately as well. I have never noticed anyhting before *shrug* I posted pics above.

I don't have direct experience with it but it sometimes seems to be the cause of throat/jaw swelling (if I am understanding your description). Maybe a pic?

ChamNews did an article that discusses it a little and I know others have more experience and hopefully will post. If this is what it is I think it is relatively easily reversed if caught early.
