OneTwoManyHerps Jul 13, 2004 01:51 PM

Hello I bought 1000 crickets and they just arrived today...i got them set up in their tub and added carrots, romaine lettuce, and broccoli for food. I noticed that a few crickets have died...what causes this?

A few dead out of 1000 is not anything to worry about. Are they large crix? Some may just be dying of old age. Shipping may be contributing to the rest. If they are smaller than 3/8 they may be drying out. I tend to keep the smaller ones on 1/2 inch of damp sterile soil. I simplify my life and feed baby cereal and fish food in a dish and romaine for water.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

Sometimes they jsut die it seems. Old age, fighting, disease, injury.

With all your herps you've never had some crockets die? I applaud you
