they never seem to live long....i get them from a local place called 'House of Reptiles' and they just dont live worth a poop lol....any suggestions?

My first guess would be that you need more ventalation (at least in my experience that't usually what kills them). Check my site and I have a thing on cricket care and what i've found that works so far.
