Hey Nick! i got my blue tails!

UroJade Jun 21, 2003 11:24 AM

as far as i can tell i have a large male a large female and a small male,im not sure if i should seperate the little guy ,the tanks big enough for him to be left alone, do you know if males are aggresive towards each other?
i got my sister to buy them for herself cuase she was wanting a lizard but i didnt have the set up for the one she really wanted, and i get the big male cuase i gave her lights and a tank,
the petstore was selling them as tanzanian neon tree lizards but they look like the bluetail pictures so i think they where just selling as the wrong thing,
named mine big male is now named Wakka the little guys either gonna be road kill cuase thier so flat or Mushu cuase he's the smallest my sisters still thinking about the females name,
their real funny basking they get as flat as they can you can see the ribs on the sides stretching the skin, i want to see them glide but i dont want them crashing into the other side of the tank...,
i love them already real cute and curious lizards and they stick to your fingers like velcro its real funny cuase i turned my hand over to put on it the tank and it just sat upside down on my hand

btw ,hows your Uro its tail start shedding yet?

congratulation on getting the lizards.also If you have a big enough tank I think the little guy should be okay.the uro is still not shedding but someone at a local reptile show said to scrape old skin off with a tooth brush so Ill use that method soon once I get back to bartlesville cause right now Im in SD with my grandpa.once again Im glad to see you got the lizards if you need anymore help with them then just ask me.

their real nice now that i figured them out they like it warm it 95 on the ground under their light but they still climb up thier tree to get closer their eating well and even trying to grab crickets from each other today i put them on about and inch or two of eco-earth it coconut stuff feels and looks like dirt, and a thickly leaved silk fish tank plant that they hide in at night pretty simpal for the moment and goona make them a coconut hide soon to strictly non handle able to fast and fragile

be careful with your uros tail if the skin doest come of easy then dont pull it could damage his spikes
just wondering how long you've had yours, i've had mine for two years

Ive had my uro around 1/2 to 1 year and he is about 5-6 inches.what is a good size aqaurium for a uro this size right now I have him in a 20 gallon long on birdseed(a vendor at a reptile show told me they also eat it and it is just as good as sand)and has a brick shelter and is fed all sorts of greens and veggies for a diet and he has a hot spot too.If theres anything I should change please let me know as I found out a little while ago savanna and tropical lizards are easier to take care of then desert lizards(another vendor told me this).also glad to see the lizards are healthy and eating

is it a 20 gallon long? hmm im not sure but i think it'll be ok in that size for now, mines always been in a 50 gallon so im not sure what size to change tanks ,bird seed is good as long as their are no sunflower seeds with shells in it and its all small seeds like finch seed or wild bird feed, what are the temps in the tank in the basking spot the middle and the cool end? also what species of uromastyx do you have? their mostly the same care but some have small differnces

well the hot spot is on one side of the tank.I have a mali uro and he is captive bred.also I bought a pair of night lizards and an armadillo lizard at a reptile show about a month ago and the female night lizard just gave birth to 3 baby lizards.Ill be getting back to bartlesville soon but for now my mom and step dad are taking care of them for me since they were born before I came back.just something I thought Id tell you.
