Possibly broken tail!!

geicogecko Jul 13, 2004 03:56 PM

Hi..I just bought a young leopard gecko yesterday and I already have a problem! I have a hide for my gecko that looks like a rock, its not that heavy but when it is picked up and dropped it is..my brother was trying to get my gecko out and he dropped the hide on my gecko and it hit his/her tail. The tail started twiching wildly like a lizard does when it looses its tail! The tail didn't come off, it just got stiff and twitched for 15 minutes..I am not sure if he/she can feel it. My question is, does this happen very often and if the tail is still attached is there any hope of the tail healing?

Hey,
sorry to hear bout your situation. I had this happen several years ago with my first leo. Freaked me right out . It stayed on until she shedded. For whatever reason during the shed it was causeing her some pain and she turned around and ripped it off. It was one of the most disgusting things ive seen. So unfortunatley your will probobly pull it off as well. But maybe it wont. you never know. Good luck

If he or she loses her tail another one will grow back, it just takes some time.
