New Gecko..

devotchka2589 Jul 13, 2004 04:34 PM

Just bought my first leopard gecko today, she's a girl tremper albino. Brought her home, watched her for awhile, and she started to try to climb the glass on the tank. I saw, in her stomach, two whitish ovals with veins through them. I want to hatch the babies if they are fertile, but I don't have an incubator, or the money for one. Is there any way that I can make my own, or find a cheap one online?

Thanks,
Val

Hi!

make sure you give her a laying box so she can lay her eggs. I just use a small tupperware box with a hole cut in the top and i fill it with moist dirt (ecoearth.). I made an incubator using a styrofoam cooler, a glass vase, and an aquarium heater that hatched out my two eggs just fine, there is a link for it on kingsnake, its http://kingsnake.ca/incubator/. Hope this helps!

Welcome to the reptile hobby, good to know that I'm not the only Russian who is in to these things.

You dont need a fancy one at all. You could incubate the eggs in room temperature, or even on top of a dvd player. They only need about 70 degrees to hatch.
