They all look great! I am especially impressed with Tuck, I mean Beren. He was always a bit of a picky eater and from your photo it looks as he has really put on some weight! Well Done!

It's so great to see follow ups on animals that have moved on to new homes! I still have one male more than I want but I don't have one I want to give up! Funny how we get so attached!

Thanks for posting the pics!

He's still a little picky, but when I offer him a change of pace, he picks up again. He's so mellow and sweet, and my femmes seem to dig him

Well if he likes them back you may have a great group! I'm still not sure who fathered my F2's, him or D2, but since D2 seemed the more teritorial animal I was betting on him!

I love the full name!

Actually, he was. I had read that sometimes with young inexperience males you could put them in with an older more experienced male it would initiate breeding response.

First I put D2 in with his father and some wc females. The older male became agressive and actually attacked D2 biting onto his thigh while in full display. D2 displayed back and I decided to separate them to avoid any injury. Then I put Tuck in. The results were much less violent and only initiated a great amount of displaying by the older male while Tuck appeared to be oblivious.

I then put Tuck and D2 together for a while and neither appeared to be threatened by the other. I did keep them and the two cb females in one enclosure for about a month and now have some nice F2 babies and more eggs in the incubator and that is why I don't know for sure who fathered the offspring. If I get nothing but slugs from any future eggs I'll know I kept the wrong guy!

Both cb males were about 3 years old so I think it is possible that it takes longer for males to reach sexual maturity than the females. This is only a theory though and it will not be proven until we raise up more males!

I notice in your list you have some uromastyx. I love those guys! If I weren't so in love with my MHDs I'd be keeping them!

I also have a beta!

Yea, slug babies would be a give away of Tuck being the father. He's a lazy, lazy boy! He's been a little picky lately, he had a pinky probably a month ago, and some nightcrawlers since, but we've ordered some silkworms to see if he's interested. He fell asleep on a branch last night with both back legs limp and hanging off and only one front arm holding on. It was way cute. He also seems to like swimming more than the other two.

As far as the uros, I've had them longer than MHDs, and considered myself to be more of a desert reptile person, so I was really surprised by how taken I was with MHDs.

I hope you knew I meant infertile when I said slug But that was a funny thought! I have actually seen some of the tiny babies hanging on by one hand. I don't see how they do it but they do quite the balancing act!

Ah. I think we are gaing to add a younger male for a bit. I'm not sure about infertile just yet, though. We recently discovered that he has a dewlap and is capable of head bobbing. And he seems motivated to actually move around by one particular, large female we have. He really expresses no interest in the other female. Is he getting close to 6 years old now?

No, I think he's probably going on 4. I know that D2 hatched in August of 2000 and I believe that Tuck was just a bit older, maybe December of 1999 or early in 2000. So, that would put D2 at almost 4 years old and Tuck would be 4 - 4 1/2 years old.

I would say that if he were displaying, particularly around one female that he is actively looking at her as a potential mate. If he doesn't show interest in the other female yet then perhaps she isn't ready to breed just now. I don't know if these guys give of pheromones or anything to trigger mating but I know that I have seem the most mating and egg laying activity from June through November with eggs hatching from February through September.
