I love the full name!
Actually, he was. I had read that sometimes with young inexperience males you could put them in with an older more experienced male it would initiate breeding response.
First I put D2 in with his father and some wc females. The older male became agressive and actually attacked D2 biting onto his thigh while in full display. D2 displayed back and I decided to separate them to avoid any injury. Then I put Tuck in. The results were much less violent and only initiated a great amount of displaying by the older male while Tuck appeared to be oblivious.
I then put Tuck and D2 together for a while and neither appeared to be threatened by the other. I did keep them and the two cb females in one enclosure for about a month and now have some nice F2 babies and more eggs in the incubator and that is why I don't know for sure who fathered the offspring. If I get nothing but slugs from any future eggs I'll know I kept the wrong guy!
Both cb males were about 3 years old so I think it is possible that it takes longer for males to reach sexual maturity than the females. This is only a theory though and it will not be proven until we raise up more males!
I notice in your list you have some uromastyx. I love those guys! If I weren't so in love with my MHDs I'd be keeping them!
I also have a beta!
