I had the 4500 and upgraded to the 5700 so I have used both. The 4500 is much more user friendly, having a bunch of preset functions for things such as landscapes, macro shots, portraits etc. I enlarged a picture from this camera to 8 by 10 and it still looked crisp. The 5700 has slightly better picture quality (not noticable unless you enlarge the pictures) and has many more manual features. It is not very user friendly however, and the automatic settings are not all that great. Once you get the hang of the manual settings it is a very versatile, 5mp camera. The main highlight of the 5700 is it's 8x zoom. The 4500 I believe only has 2x zoom. If most of your pictures will be macro shots anyway, this should not be a problem. If you want a camera that you can start shooting quickly and you don't mind not having much of a zoom I would go with the 4500. Here are a few pictures from both cameras:

NOTE: These pictures are all scaled to 800x600 so the better image quality of the 5700 can not be seen. But, like I said before, it is not very noticable 90% of the time anyway.
