can anyone tell me whats wrong with my california king?

pcolom1 Jul 13, 2004 06:52 PM

the snake is about 2.5 feet long
it seems to have a skin problem, from just below the head to about four inches down its left side the scales are dry and grey, crusty, and kind of dead...
anyone seen a condition like this?
i can supply a picture if no one can understand what i mean

also, when holding the snake close to a light to examine the skin problem, i noticed that the inside of the snake is all red, which i had never really noticed, and just being already alarmed about the skin rash i started to wonder if the snake always had such a reddish hue when hold near a light and started to think the snake was bleeding or something internally, i guess i might just be paranoid here and the snake would have always looked like that when held up to a light

thanks alot
paul

Sounds like blister disease, especially the reddish scales. I would take him to a vet ASAP and find out as it can cause death in CB snakes.
