Collared lizards - males in particular - are rather territorial by nature, and confining two adult or subadult males to the same enclosure (regardless of size) for any length of time is not recommended. While it might appear on the surface that the lizards "get along together" just fine, there simply would be too many underlying stresses present. At the very least one of the males would establish dominance, while the other would go off feed and/or retreat to a hidespot during peak basking hours. Housing two male Crotaphytus together for an extended period - if you got that far - would undoubtedly result in the premature demise of one or both lizards...

Suddenly when breeding season came about, things got ugly. My larger male became more aggressive, and would try to mate with the the other lizard. I think they were only about 1.5 years old when this first happened. I had to separate them due to violence, and my political view on same sex relationships.
I wouldn't put 2 males together even though some folks have done this without apparent probelms. My lizards get grumpy when they see another male across the room in another cage.
From JohnE account, kind of sounds like being in prison.
First I noticed the smaller guy was walking funny.

What about housing 2 males together if they cannot see any other lizards. I have a theory that males can get along fine if there is no females, but what do you think?
Will it matter whether they have been brumated or not?
