cricket supplier?

Tristan Jul 13, 2004 08:40 PM

Hello everyone. Can you guys recommended a good cricket breeder? (when I say good, I mean price and quality) I've got 16 two week old hatchlings (my first batch!) and it's getting pretty expensive having to buy the 1000 box at prehistoric pets ($22 w/o tax). I'm in socal....
thanks in advance,
Tristan

I live on the East cost and usually order from superwormfarm.com which I've been very happy with this season. They sell 1000 for $10 plus shipping. Shipping might be a little more going to the West coast. Their Crickets have been coming in healthy and not the humid mess we get on the East coast in the summer once in a while. When I miss the 3pm cutoff for next day delivery I call americancricketranch.com in California and have been satisfied, and surprised that after such a long trip from coast to coast in the heat of summer the crickets arrive in great shape, and healthy, and last for quite a long time. They charge a bit more $15.95 for 1000 but shipping to you local may not be that bad at all. They are now my back up supplier in those crazy times I miss the cut off and am in need of crickets to get me through the weekend LOL.

I use lllreptile.com/ and I'm very happy with them. The crickets have always arrived in good condition and plenty of them. They give price breaks the more you buy, so for $16.99 you can get 1000, $26.99 for 2000 and so on, and this includes shipping. So for a few bucks more than what you've been spending you could be getting twice as many crickets!

They are also in California so I'd imagine it wouldn't take very long to ship them to you. The only thing is they only ship on Mondays, so you have to order by midnight on Monday or it waits until the next week. That way the insects don't get stuck in the mail over the weekend and die.

Well I also live in Socal. I have used every cricket breeder so far listed. The best crix in the business are Armstrong and Southern Crickets but they are a little pricy. Prehistoric pets is supplied by Armstrong so when you get those huge healthy crix in the box on Monday and Tuesday those are Armstrongs. If you decied on Armstong and If you order less than 3000 than you are better off buying them from the store. But for next day crix to your door at about a five dollar shipping charge you can order from American Cricket at 15.95 for 1000 or 25.90 for 2000 ranch but keep in mind that they run small so order your normal size first and then you can adjust from there.
Good Luck and maybe I will see you at Prehistoric Pets buying crix!!
