HELP!!!!!

geicogecko Jul 14, 2004 09:40 AM

I posted earlier yesterday but no one has responded, I really need help. My brother dropped the gecko hide on my gecko's tail and it started wiggling really fast back and forth like the tiny wild lizards here. His tail didn't come off but it is white and stiff I don't think he can feel anything. I don't know if this is normal or if there is any hope of the tail healing.

sorry I can't help you, but I know what it's like to have your pleas for help go unanswered. Try calling a herp vet or maybe herp rescue. Good luck! it could be a lot worse!

what happened to your gecko is he lost circulation to its tail it may eventualy fall of but since im not a vet just a fellow leo keeper u should call a vet because this is a new expirince to me.

From the description, the tail attempted to release due to the pressure, but because it was squished it stayed on. The quick wiggling for fifteen minutes, stiffness, and pale color means it acted like it fell off, without actually falling off. I would say you need to take it to a vet. The vet should be able to break off the dead part without injuring the gecko so that it can heal appropriately. I'm not vet but definitly give them a call and you'll likely have to take him/her in.

Hey,
sorry to hear bout your situation. I had this happen several years ago with my first leo. Freaked me right out . It stayed on until she shedded. For whatever reason during the shed it was causeing her some pain and she turned around and ripped it off. It was one of the most disgusting things ive seen. So unfortunatley your will probobly pull it off as well. But maybe it wont. you never know. Good luck
