Nutritional Suppliment

At the moment all I have been feeding is crickets. I will try mealworms and possibly waxworms (look too big for the girl, but the male could tackle them). Flys I will buy from Grubco next week (when I get money ) along with anything else they sell that peaks my interest.

The crickets are gutloaded with a gelatin mix that has everything in it. I have sticky tongue multi-vitamin that includes D3 and wonder what frequency I should use it. Right now I think two days on it and one day off (just feed the crickets gut loaded as is). Is this the best method? I wouldn't want to overwhelm their tiny chameleon bodies with too much vitamins.

First, a clarification. The Sticky Tongue Farms dust is mineral, not vitamins (other than the D3 to assist calcium absorbtion). If your chams are young and still growing fast you can use the mineral dust every other feeding. Once they are grown you should cut back to once a week. If you don't have any other dust you should look into a separate vitamin dust (such as Herptivite with beta carotene) and use it about once a week. At adulthood use it once a month. But, a good gutload is better than relying on dusts. Dusts are easy to overdose. A gutload will be safer over time. The best recipe in use for chams is the one listed on http://www.adcham.com. A good commercially produced one designed for chams is available from http://www.herpnutrition.com

Another note...I don't think the gelatin has "everything in it". Don't trust it too far. Use the gelatin for moisture for crix, but also feed them fresh leafy greens, chunks of fruit, and fortified cereal grains.

Fortified cereal grains? Like cheerios?
