I use a mix of plants so the chameleon can pick and choose and so he has different climbing surfaces. Good workout for his little hands to grip things of different shape and size. I have a vicus, a few pothos, and a large umbrilla (spelling??) tree. As well as vines going in and around them. Bender really seems to like the umbrilla tree the best. At least for sleeping and hiding. Blends right in with the colors of it.

I prefer Ficus alli to the more common F. benjamina. It is bigger and has stronger branches and leaves. Also large Hawaiian schefflera (umbrella tree), hibiscus, and vining pothos work well. Some like the indoor citrus trees, but they need a lot of light. I also get more structure by adding branching natural tree limbs from my yard and anchoring them around the cage and through the plants. Scrub the branches with a 10:1 bleach to hot water solution, rinse, remove rotting loose bark, and let them dry before use.

I use ficus and rotate it with schefflera as the ficus will drop leaves so I take it out to rejuvenate and then the scheff goes thru the same process. I also use hibiscus (Luna likes to eat the flower buds), croton (nice large leaves she like to hide under) - I use this mainly in here sunning cage, and pothos. She loves her scheff at bedtime. It gives her more cover and all-in-all I think she prefers it to her ficus.
