Reusing heat pads ????

linuxchick Jul 14, 2004 12:15 PM

Ok...I sent my husband the other night to get a heatpad for the gecko and return the heatrock... well he took it upon himself to set up the heatpad... I didnt think much of it cuase I figured how can you mess that up!!!!

Well... this morning Im looking in the tank and noticed that to cord is in the tank and realized he put the heatpad on the bottom inside the tank instead of outside!!!!!!

Is it ok to pull it up and put it under the tank like it should be or would it be better to just buy a new one ???

I wasnt sure if by pulling it up if it would damage the heatpad?

Sometimes you can damage it by pulling it up. That bottom is extrememly sticky. I would say that if you get it off in one peice and not too much left on the bottom, go ahead and reuse it, but WITH A THERMOSTAT. Too much possibility of it being damaged to not use one. If you can't get it off, get a new one, and still use the thermostat.

To be on the safe side I will just get a new one... 15 dollars for a heat pad is worth not having to worry about a damaged heat pad!

Thanks for the info !
