What morph should i get??? more......

skikid28 Jun 21, 2003 01:47 PM

I already have one high-yellow female and am going to get at least two more geckos. I was thinking of getting a Blizzard and a patternless but was wondering if any of you had any other preferences. Also, my feamle is very shy. she rarely comes out of her hides and when she does, it is just to go to the other hide. This happens not only in the day but all through the night. Are there any ways that I could get her to become more sociable or is that just a part of her unchangeable personality? Thanks in advance.

My high yellow male, Pheonix, is also very shy. He spends 90% of the day and night in his log hide or behind his humid hide. He only comes out to eat mealies from his bowl, to go to the bathroom, and geta sip of water. Beanie, my normal female, is the little adventurer though. She is out an about all day and night long, patrolling her tank.
Personally, for morphs, I have always found albinos to be beautiful as well as extremely bright tangerines. Jungle or designer geckos are also beautiful. But don't over-look those normal leos when you go out to buy. My Beanie is really nothing special when it comes to her patterning but her amazing and adventurous spirit make her worth more than the fanciest gecko morph out there!!!

If you are buying them as pets I would not get a Blizzard. While I don't have one myself, the general consensus around here from people who do have them seems to be that they are mean and aggressive, though there are *always* exceptions. Patternless can be very pretty. I find that Tremper albinos tend to be docile and freindly. And I think tangerines are gorgeous. Course I love tangerine albinos, but that might be more than you want to spend.

While there are some general personality tendencies people have noticed from morph to morph, individual gecko personalities vary. I have some that perk up and will come out of their hide to greet me when I open their enclosure, looking at me and coming over to my hand if I put it in, like they are asking to be picked up. Very cute!

If you gecko hides in its hide all the time, even at night, it would not be a bad idea to get a fecal done to make sure it doesn't have a low-grade parasitic problem like worms that is dragging down its energy.

i really like "brown-less" tremper albinos. they look really kool if in a naturalistic terrium with a nocturnal light. ive heard blizzards can be mean, but ive had 3, none of them were any more aggressive then my others. but mine where all '02, so maybe the newer ones are being bred out of it. patternless are really kool in my opinion, theyre just awesome. my favorite to look at though are the "brown-less" tremper albinos. some people call the TCD incubation method "cheating", but the results are awesome, and impossible with out it.
