WHat happened to super condas?

eunectes4 Jul 14, 2004 02:05 PM

I keep going on the site and nobody is posting...di you all forget about the site you made? The Dirksen website has all the information you will need to distinguish between the 4 species of anaconda. Just make sure all credit is and citation is given properly. I can think of a top of idea to add to the site and would not mind writing information if anyone has a request. It could also have information about the upcoming movie august 27 and some facts that the movie probably has incorrect or exagerated. I really think it can be a great site if people put some effort into it. I would love to help but i am not a website person and I know nothing about how computers work or what you plan on adding or need help with. Please let me know whats going on...id hate to see it go to waste.

I nominate you for that article Eunectes. Like Cody said, just go to 'submit article' and type up something.
BTW my male conda has finally taken a fuzzy rat. He had only been taking pinkies up till now. I tried a late night feeding and he took it right off. WOO HOO!!
Also I believe I mentioned the albino garter snake I had caught in the wild in '02. Well the guy I sold it to has produced babies and ,as part of our agreement, I am to get some. They will be here tomorrow. (Thurs.) I know this is the conda forum but I am still going to post a pic here.

First, that great your anaconda is moving up in the world. But it wasnt taking fuzzy rats? I wonder why..I think my little yellows would take fuzzy rats and I think your male could eat both of my yellows. See how wierd these ones can be. I got my girl to take a scented rat for the first time...lets hope I can do that again. I cant wait until no scent consistantly. Have fun with the albino garters. Nice looking but what a smell and talk about some aggression. I have seen those things go crazy. I have seen tame cb babies though as my friend breeds them for some reason. You think your conda makes a smell...those garters smell all the time. I still like them though and they behave kind of cobra like. So for the article..you want me to write something about the 4 different species. I would love to do that but it is going to be a while befroe I get around to completion. would I need to include references in my article or should I just e mail them to cody to include in the references section of the website. I would think both but i have no idea about the legalities of a website. Let me know how it needs to be presented and i would love to submit a long extensive article about this. I do not want anyone to get in trouble though. I also wonder if you could contact that site and ask to use or purchase a picture or two. I also wonder if you could include a link...what is the leagality of that? I hate to be dumb about this but I know very little about website rules.

Yeah for some reason he avoided fuzzy rats. He ate the heck out of pinkies but when they had a little fur on them he would smell all over them but then would back away. I knew he could take them I just had to convince him that he could.lol.

I would contact Ron about the legality issues you asked about. He's the one whos butt will be on the line. I would love to see a pic of each species on SC. Maybe a general article about all 4 and then a more detailed article on each one.

Anyone know of any legal hurdles there might be for importing a pair of the other two condas? I was just wondering.

Yeah I know about the garter smell. I have kept them when I was younger. I probably never would have considered them but they are direct descendants of the one I found in the wild. So they have a more personal meaning to me. What are the odds of finding an albino anything in the wild?

I totlally understand that. I try and keep my garter snake keephng to a minimun and at times I am pretty good at it and sometimes I am not. I do not know if there is a huge need to import e. deschauenseei and e. beneiensi to the states since most people do not even know they exist. I would musch rather keep snakes in the wild. I admit they are very interesting looking but most snake people will never see the difference between them and other sepices...in fact many snake breeders think my green is a yellow and think my granites are a separate species. It obviously means the world does not care about anacondas at the moment so lets just leave it at that. I think a mass anaconda import like ball pythons now would only hurt the hobby anyway.
