well it really depends on what kind of animal you want.i like the type of skinks that burrow.they are particularly fascinating since not much is known about their habits so i like to learn about them.i am particularly fond of sandfish.they are smaller than oscellated and are more attractive.i love to see these skinks pop out of the sand and eat insects.a friend of mine just got some sand fish and is thinking of parting with his oscellated skink group so im going to try to get them.if you would rather have an active skink to watch i suggest a fire skink as these are attractive and very active and seem to watch almost every move you make when they see you.i hope this helps you out.

ok thanks. So it sounds like they arent out too terribly much then, i guess. Well, ill look into sandfish and fire skinks but i still am interested in these guys. Thanks for responding though.
haha i guess i logged on as treefrog to ask the question but i SWEAR it was me. i just got on as him. oh well im the one that asked so if your confused why i thanked that guy now you know
Ocellated skinks will show themselves to bask but they do love to hide(Bury in the sand)and you have to keep them with substrate they can bury in.
They are nice looking though which I imagine is why you like them but again they do love to hide and many times your looking at a tank with sand.
