Stella not eating

devotchka2589 Jul 14, 2004 09:38 PM

My new leopard gecko (Stella), and first, has been in the tank since about 2:00 pm EST yesterday. I tried giving her a few crickets a lil while ago, and she came out and pretty much stalked them, but didn't try to eat them, even though sometimes they were right at the tip of her nose.

Is this normal? Or should I just try again tomorrow? Maybe she's still a bit stressed.. but I still don't understand why she was stalking them, then. My mom said she would bring me to the store to buy mealworms or smaller crickets tomorrow. Could it be that she doesn't want the size of crickets I have?

Thanks,
Val

Often they need a little while to adjust to and get used to their surroundings and new home. Be patient... it would probably be best to just leave her be for a few, and try again a couple days from now, if not a week.

She laid two eggs this morning (her second time, according to the reptile store), and we brought the eggs to an incubator back at the reptile store we got her at. By the time we got back, all the mealies (about 10) were GONE. She has ate almost 20 mealies now, and a few crickets. Is it okay that she is eating this much?
