My recent move put the cage on hold. I've built more than shown but can't get it posted right now. Will post updates soon.

DZ...the extra framework on the sides of your cage...
is that for a second, and/or third story?
Extra levels?

CaptainHook2 Jul 15, 2004 05:50 AM

Yep! By now I have the second level frame complete and the inner walls are in place. I'm just about ready to order the glass for the doors and the windows. I've had other priorities before I could even get to the cage. It's in my basement and had been burried with scrap wood. The work space has been litteraly stacked with boxes. My wife and I cleared it out so I should be able to work on the cage soon. It should have a 3rd level as well. Due to the stacking method, I need to re-think the plans for the top level. Right now moses is in a cage where his coil takes up half the floor space and I can't stand it. Once his cage is built, I have 2 balls to put in his first cage.

Here's the cage my burm is in now. My balls (tee hee hee) will go in here once the big cage is finished. I gutted an old dresser, refinished it and made this. I WISH I had a before pic.

That is a beautiful cage. I dont have the funds, or the tools right now to anything that looks great. Mine are just pretty utilitarian right now. But that one is gorgeous. Im anxious to see your next one when its finished.

What do you think it's worth? If I can sell it, I'll make a vertical one for my balls. Takes up less floor space

I really couldnt tell ya. It would probably just depend on finding someone who wanted a real nice display case. I would guess you could get 300 pretty easy out of it. Maybe more, maybe less. But it sure does look much better than most any pre-fab cages Ive seen.

I bet it is heck trying to clean out the crap from the snake with something that nice looking. The better it looks the harder it is to clean the crap out. I bet he snakes are laughing in their mind when we clean it out. I know I would.

Everyone says don't put anything extra in the cage because it gets in the way when cleaning. Man! There are right but...if I were the animal I would want my cage to resemble home as much as possible so I'll continue to use them, but smarter. You just wait till I finish the new one.

Here's the one I built for my 13' female. It's 8'L X 2'H X 2'D, heated with a ceramic heat emitter (sp?), and the curtains are to provide her with some privacy and myself some safety. She's been trained that all food comes from the left hand doors by her original owner and now that I have her, I do the same. But I've also found she's much calmer if she doesn't see any movement around that side of the cage. Plus it doubles as a 'hide' for her.

This should work.........

Here is mine that houses my 1 year old male. I should have not made it so high because I have humidity problems. Don't worry though he always sheds in one piece and never keeps his eye caps.
