how many herps do you have?

Justin Stricklin Jul 15, 2004 12:12 AM

I used to have many many more, but I lowered my number by selling and/or trading many for special animals or trade for feeders. i used to have well over 100 tarantuals, but it was very tiring work and I could not sell them (most were usumbaras for those of you spider freaks like me) good and they ended up going to lizards as food and i just let some just die, as I had 2 many and did not ask for them. That is what got me out of the spider hobby. i still like them though. Well, I have run my mouth on here plenty this past month since I got my albino burmese. here is the list. i am sure there are a few errors because I type fast with many errors.

0.0.1 black racer

One, a 12 foot male Burmese. I have had as many as 15 snakes and a couple of big lizards (iguanas and monitors). But I'm down to one Burm. I'm looking for another one, however.

Here we have a lot os stuff, mostly snakes though. I have not counted but there are bloods, balls, hogg island boas, dumeril boas, columbian boas, a few other species of boas and pythons, and numerious colubrid species, and we have eggs on the way as well as eggs hatching and incubating, and a few boas that need to give birth still.

Here are some of the blood pythons that just hatched..

like this?...or the other kind??
Image

Justin Stricklin Jul 15, 2004 11:16 PM

yep, that. What other kind is there? i know about those in australia and places of that sort, is that what you ment by the "other kind"? did you rescue it? It sure looks like it. I got mine about 2 weeks ago. it has already grown a considerable amount. I have kept many of them before, but i got htem all when they were older and i only calmed down one of them. i got this one young and can already free handle it without holding behind the head. All my past ones came down with metabolic bone disease. Iknew no better and kept them wrong.

I meant the short tail or whatever they are called. So many people claim they have an opossum when they really have one of those little brownish ones. Anyways...I have had this wonderful little girl since before her eyes were open. She hardly had any hair and was so small I had to "bottle-raise" her with an eyedropper or small syringe. She loves to be around us, though she does still have to live in a cage(its a 3 level wire thing about 4 feet tall). She is also completely litter trained. She did originate in our backyard, and is of the black-tipped variety we have here. It makes her look like she is solid black instead of dark grey. Sorry to go on and on...but I just can't help it...she has been such a great pet.
