I only have a ceramic heat emitter and uvb. What other lighting/heating do i need? Basking?

Hey! I was all excited thinking I was going to open this post and see a picture of a tick.

Oh well, while I am here......

Uromastyx do love light so the only time I personally use a ceramic heater is at night when I need supplemental heat.

In my opinion, it is impossible to achieve a proper basking and gradient temperature in any enclosure with one heat fixture. All of my enclosures have a minimum of two heat sources and a large number of them have three. It is much easier using various wattage bulbs and achieving proper temps than it is to try and use one large wattage bulb to try to achieve everything.

Unfortunately, no one will be able to tell you exactly what size bulb or how many to purchase. Much will depend on the height of your enclosure, the type of top, and even the temperature of the room that the enclosure is kept in.

The key to success is endless tweaking.

Your set-up, in my opinion, definately requires a basking light with sufficient UVA also. The heat without light may confuse him also, leading him not to know where to bask all the time.

All of my tanks have Zoo Med heat bulbs. For the Uromastyx we use a 150 watt bulb. Be sure to keep the bulb on one side of the tank, this makes sure there is a cool part your uro can go to if he/she gets too hot.

Incandescent Heat bulbs, are the black light of light heat omitting bulbs. Get a different fixture so when you unplug the regular light, you can plug in the night heat light.
