Disinfecting branches and mice

CokeOfMan Jul 15, 2004 08:13 AM

How should I do when I'm disinfecting big branches for a WD terrarium? I've heard that I can soak them in some sort of bleach (Is some sort of Chlorohexadine ok? Does it leave residue?). But how am I supposed to soak a four feet tall branch in bleach? First, I would have to use a big container, and also lots of bleach. Is there any other way, like pouring bleach over the branches, scrubbing them or pour boiling water on them?

Mice: I've read that fuzzies are more nutritious than pinkies, because they contain more skeleton (calcium) and less fat. Is it still ok to feed pinkies? At what size could I feed my waterdragon fuzzies, and, also maybe pinkies.
From what I have understood though, mice should not be offerd as often as invertebrates since they are high in fat. Or can I use mice, mixed with invertebrates, and maybe vegetables, as a staple diet?

Thanks In Advance

Don't use all bleach, usually you should use a 10% bleach solution. I washed my big branches in my bathtub, with lots of soap, bleach solution and a good stiff brush. Then I let it dry out in the sun. Make sure you rinse it really well to get all of the bleach off.

When your dragons are adults pinky mice are too small to bother with. They aren't even a mouthful, and it would take a lot to satisfy a hungry dragon. Mine ate 2-3 fuzzies at a feeding. Mine also ate earthworms, superworms and feeder fish quite a bit. They won't eat veggies, and most invertabrates are just too small to bother with. If I could have used roaches I might have given them a try, but there was no way my mother would have allowed roaches in her house.
