Mites or shedding

bugsquawsher Jul 15, 2004 09:24 AM

Ok
I'm little rusty , I been away from the snake thing for a few years.
I just got this Common redtail a few days back
since then I have found her completely in the water dish for up to 24 hours at a time. Then again yesterday when I got home.
I took her out in the yard for some exercize and to look her over real good.
Her belly scales have a look like she might need to shed.
But I also saw these Tiny white Spec on her
they wiped off, But it made me go hmmm?

could that be mites?

If she has mite's and she was soaking in her water bowl look in the water bowl for little black dot's,if she has mite's there should be dead one's in the water bowl.
Have A Good One ! !

The white specs are most likely baby mites. Get a can of provent-a-mite and make sure to follow the directions for use.
