claw question

second_hand_rose Jun 21, 2003 04:06 PM

Just wanted to start this off with a Hello. I'm new to the board. I've been floating around on here for a bit now but finally decided to take the plunge and sign on. I have a question regaurding claws - Do they need to be trimmed?? I took out my Vield "Sanchoz" and noticed that his claws were pretty sharp. I didnt notice them being too long or really that long for that matter but just very sharp. Am I just being wacked? Or is there a method to all this madness? lol

i think people usually avoid trimming the nails because it makes it much more difficult for the chameleon to cling to vines/branches that are the same size diameter of it's grip or larger. you can trim them i believe but i don't know exactly how to do it.

from what ive heard is that you do not trim chameleon nails, you file them. trimming han be damgerous as there in a vein running through them.

You should not trim the nails. They are easily damaged and may not regrow. It will make it hard for your cham to climb around.
