So for the last couple of days, Bufo, my toad, has been a little cranky. I was worried it wasnt doing well or maybe was mad at me, but yesterday I found out why.. I was just stopping at home before going out to dinner with my parents, and three of us noticed she was really wet looking and had brown... stuff... at her armpits. I was like ._. okay. I have to go now but you better be okay. So I come home and theres this discarded FROG SKIN laying half out of the water pool. She doesnt really look any different, but I had NO idea that frogs shed. I know snakes and hermit crabs do but toads/frogs!? Im also wondering why she changes from dark black to light tan sometimes.. There doesnt seem to be any pattern to it, like night or day or when its been in the dark or the light. And I thought I knew enough about toads! Anyone know the light/dark explaination?

Hehhehe, j/k of course.
I don't know why they do it, but it probably does have to do with shedding their skin. My green ones change from light to dark all the time, and yes, frogs and toads shed their skin. If the toad doesn't eat it all and you don't want to clean it up, you can put a gold fish in there and that'll eat it all up.
