Lizard Identification.

DonnaV59 Jun 21, 2003 04:22 PM

I saw a beautiful little lizard in my yard today and was wondering if anyone could help me ID it. I live in Tampa, FL. The lizard was spotted in my front yard in the grass. It measured between 2 and 3 inches. The colors were very bright; an irridescent blue tail, black body and legs and red wavy streaks running from the nose back acrss the head and stopping around the neck. I didn't get an opportunity to look at the belly as it was too busy trying to hide from me and I didn't want to hurt it.

Does it look like this guy? Many other photos of gecko spp. can be found at www.gekkota.org.

Nope...that's not the one, but thank you for answering.

Is this the lizard you seen? If so, I call it a blue tailed skink, don't know its real name though.

No, I'm familiar with the blue-tailed skink. Thank you though.

OK...It appears that you're answer was correct. All my "experts" here at work tell me that I probably saw a juvinile southeastern five-line skink.
