well dude don't take offense but by the looks of it what miracle morph are you expecting?..lol it is a very pretty snake & has some pattern reduction which I'm a big fan of. But it seems that alot of the reduced don't make carbon copies in their clutches....there is some genetic whatever going on i'm sure because you may have a couple babies that will also show some reduced pattern but it won't be identical. So it's not like the simple het / co-dom thing we're use to. But then again that's up to you to prove out yourself. I would if anything start seeing reduced in your clutchs start line breeding & maybe you can create some really reduced snakes that are stronger genetically in passing pattern to offspring some years from now like how the scarlet boa was line bred to bring out the red. Just don't get your hopes up that you have the next yellowbelly craze because it's all too common to see reduced pattern in normal balls. the patterns vary greatly & people put that notion aside & let that "I'm gonna win the lotto this time I can feel it" notion take over the truth of it. So good luck just don't take offense at people because alot of people seem to get over excited about just simple pretty balls...all the scammers don't help either hyping peoples heads with b.s.//lol
well my opinion went on for too long..lol
good lukc dude post pics when she drops a clutch I'd love to see the results!
Thanks for your insight, If it proves out than awesome, if not than It was fun trying, and Ill have some nice reduced. If I were doing this solely as a business than I might criticize any effort to prove any unusual pattern out aswell, but I love the hobby and feel its a win-win situation.

i totally agree...glad you didn't take offense to anything because that wasn't the intention...well best of luck with you breeding... i wish you many reduced patterns..lol
And of course you never know, this could be the one reduced gene that does act as a simple predictable co-dominant with a killer super. All the ones that haven't proved make it's odds look lower but it's still possible.
I think I saw some of the first genetic striped boas (maybe not the best example since I don't think they are all that great) but at that time everyone was quoting the book that stripes where temperature induced and not paying much attention to them. I wonder what Mr. Clark had to pay for his imported genetic stripe ball? In hindsight it was a good gamble based on it looking a little different than all the non-genetic striped balls that came before. Wonder if it got discounted because of the history of stripes not proving.
Have fun.....and dink around.....who knows???
That's what makes Ball'in so fun. Anyone can play.

That snake in the pic looks very normal to me, and even if it did reproduce itself exactly it would still be a normal patterned Ball.
I still do not think all "Yellow Bellies" will produce a white snake in the "super form". Just how many have produced white snakes??
No offense man, it's JMO.

???
I think that is an awesome lil snake... have fun dinking around and don't bother listening to people's negativity... think about how much all the other morphs got, and besides you are just having fun... if it does turn out to be just normal... heck I would go through you just to get a lil gal who looked like that! I LOVE the reduced pattern and it almost has a spider look... good luck! Let us all know how it goes.

How are we being negative? I did not mean it to be negative, and I see plenty of animals like this that are hatched from normal adults, and they are normal themselves. I never said the animal was not nice, cuz it is a nice normal Ball, and if it is anything special it will produce something different than what it looks like. I would think it would throw babies that looked similar to it, (most do) but they are normal, with a slight pattern reduction that can come from two "busy" patterend balls also.

In fact, we're positive that its a normal. I've got 38 just like it here in the Ball racks. I still like them, I just don't have imaginary ideas that they are something they aren't.

Don't remember the dude's name but a couple years ago..a guy hatched out a pied from breeding a het clown male to a normal female.......the Barkers produced a patternless ball from breeding two normals.........and just recently..Rudd produced a hypo pastel from breeding a pastel to a normal.
Point being......just because it looks normal..doesn't mean it is just a normal. Unless you are 100% sure that you absolutely know the complete family history of your normal bp..........a normal could in fact be a het.
I say.....imagine away.
I don't think he was claiming it to be a het, but it could be. He is going to breed for the pattern, which is normal, and he should get animals that look similar to it. I never meant to offend him, but if I did....Oh well, thats life. It is a pretty "normal" that should throw pretty normal babies...LOL.

Now, we're talking about two COMPLETELY different things Murphinski. He INITIALLY stated that he was going to try and reproduce the pattern in the aformentioned animal, which I have seen literally thousands like it (hence why everyone thinks its normal) and now you're equating that with the CHANCE that it could be het for something and he could miraculously find another animal that by chance is also a het for the same gene??
I'm confused. Of course the animal COULD be hiding cool recessive genetics. Any animal could. That's not the question. The question was whether or not his normal could produce more normals. I can almost guarantee it will. LOL!!

It is not my intention of starting an arguement here with you.....but the mere facts are quite clear. A het Red Axanthic is no doubt a normal looking black back. You see them everywhere....many black backs that look quite similar to the one Corey proved genetic. And if I remember correctly...Corey obtained the original het Red Axanthic/normal looking black back from the snakekeepers.....hmm.....they had no idea of it's potential????
Now...what about all this yellowbelly hype???Are they or are they not hets??? And according to people involved in the yellowbelly hype all say that yellowbellies vary...some are ho-hum looking normals while others are more extreme. Can you tell the difference between a ho-hum yellowbelly and a normal??? I sure the hell can't.....even with constant studying of some pics..I may in fact have a yellowbelly......??????
Point being........If someone wants to dink and have fun...why you gotta be such a buzzkill?
I look at it as we're saving him from disappointment when he hatches Ball Pythons that look EXACTLY like the 500,000 that come in to North America for $4 each.
Just my 2 cents, which I'm allowed to have, like everyone else.
The het red axanthics look anything but normal. Not even close.
I think it was Matt Turner who produced the unexpected pied from a clown gene male. Anyone have any updated information on the explanation on that one? Have subsequent breedings proved the father a double het and did he have any known pied ancestors? Was the assumed normal mother selected based on the belly markings? At one time I was wondering if it meant it was more likely that Pied and Clown where alleles and the pied produced was really a double het pied clown. Has anyone bred clown X pied yet?
Sure we can see the signs in the het red axanthics now but did Corey purchase the originals as pretty much normals? I would agree that it's probably likely that the nice reduced at the start of this thread isn't particularly stunning or likely reproducible but I think the hope has to be that it might be a het for a more stunning homozygous co-dominant. The odds are long and it doesn't help that there are so many "normal" reduceds but Corey was working against the same sort of gamble that his weren’t just "normal" blackbacks.
I was simply saying he should just have fun dinking around. He can't be dissapointed by hatching out normals when he already stated that he knows there is a big chance they would be normal and he would be happy if they were... I wasn't trying to start an argument, just trying to tell him to go for it... all of us should go for it if we think something might come of it. No point in shooting his dreams down... his dreams did contain the possibility of pretty lil normal babies, of which I would be proud of and happy to buy one of.
