lazy turtle

i have a baby snapping turtle and i try to feed it the reptomin food sticks but it wont eat but three or four sticks, and when i try to feed it fish it doesnt ever get them i usualy have to put the fish right in front of it or hold it right in front of it, is this bad and do any of you have any sugestions.

How often are you feeding the turtle? Also, what is the water temps? If your turtle is a hatchling and your feeding it daily, 3 or 4 sticks is probably all it's little stomach can hold. Water temps also play a big part in their appitite, if the water is too cold, it's matabilism will slow and it will eat less. Christy

I agree. Good answer.
If he seems healthy otherwise ,don't worry about it.
Water temp is a HUGE factor.
Mine will change eating habits with only about an 8 degree change in water temp.
Also, I don't know if he's new or not, but its takes a while for them to settle down sometimes.
Raise the temp a little if you can, and skip a day or two.
