lighting or heat mat

skater2337 Jul 15, 2004 08:02 PM

i currently have a heat mat heating one half of my enclosure. it is keeping the temps. at a perfect level and everything seems fine. my friends (who dont have snakes) insist that i should use a light as well durring the day, which i have tried once and the temps. were in the hundreds. they claim it is "too dark" but there is light in my room. do you guys think that a light in the daytime should be included?

Smack your friend for starters. If things are perfect dont mess with it.Your corn doesnt need light. Some words of advice I tell the people I train at work.If it aint broke dont fix it.

my friend is still complainig. he claims that im turning the discusion into one about temps. instead of lights. reguardless of temps would a light be beneficial or nessecary to his health or hapiness. my room is dimmily lit.

No.If your that worried put a table light in the room on a timer. The only lights my snakes get is indirect light from a tv my comp or my windows that have the blinds drawn shut 99'% of the time. They do not need uv lights to survive.Ive never seen a happy or sad snake yet.Just one that is taken care of or not.Slap your roommate around a bit.He is the one that ate the last can of spagetti'os and left the dirty bowl on the coffee table/plywood on milkcrates...Paul
