HELP!! PLEASE!!

larg Jul 15, 2004 09:10 PM

I know very little about amphibians, as I am a reptile man... but today, I found an adult male gray tree frog in my back yard. A clear, yellowish bubble is oozing from its ventral area and I can see blood mixed in with it. I carefully caught the poor little creature and have brough him inside and made him a nice, safe cage set up. Someone please help me find out what is wrong as I hope to save him.

Thank you!

Adam R.

First, I assume that you mean close or near the abdominal area or close to the dorsolateral area on the frog. Either way, it sounds like it is an infected wound on its skin. The yellowish substance mixed with blood could be a sign of this. I would take the frog to a vet so they can do tests and/or fix the problem. If you are skilled at using herpetological medications, you could also try using amphibian-safe medications on the frog. Good luck, and keep us posted.
