Well, my first clutch of snow corn eggs is hatching. This is the first intentional clutch I've tried to incubate. I started with 23 good-looking eggs and it looks like about 9 are going to hatch. Not a great percentage, but I learned quite a few things. I kept the humidity a little too high for some of the incubation, and I didn't keep a close enough eye on the temp. One temp spike that hit above 93 killed about 6 eggs less than 2 weeks before hatching. I was disappointed, but it served as a good learning tool. Some say the best way to learn is to make mistakes, and I've certainly done that. Hopefully next time will go smoother.
One quick question... I have three eggs left to hatch out and the rest are already fully out of their eggs and in other containers. One egg has a long, shallow slit on it that is leaking a lil bit of fluid, but the hatchling hasnt poked out yet. The other two have faint lines that look like cracks but haven't broken the surface yet. Do I need to assist these out or will they work their way out on their own? Thanks for the advice.
Dave
